A/Prof Michael Izard has been working in Radiation Oncology for over 30 years, and has been at The Mater Hospital for over 25 of them. His training was at St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney and Westmead Hospital, followed by a year as a Clinical Fellow at Princess Margaret Hospital, Toronto, Canada.
He is Director of the Radiotherapy Department within the Hospital, and a partner with the parent Radiotherapy Company “GenesisCare” which has Radiotherapy Departments across Australia and overseas. He is also the Chair of the Hospital’s Department of Cancer Medicine, attending the Hospital’s Medical Advisory Committee.
Michael’s interests in Radiotherapy include brachytherapy and its role in the management of malignancy, as well as Breast and Prostate cancers and Palliative Care. He has access to all forms of radiotherapy including Sydney’s Gamma Knife which is specifically designed for intracranial lesions.
