She has been involved in clinical trials, supportive care and psychosocial research in breast cancer for the past 20 years. Fran has chaired the Board of Breast Cancer Trials (formerly ANZ Breast Cancer Trials Group) and contributes to clinical trial development nationally and internationally through the BCT and IBCSG. She has recently led the founding of the Metastatic Breast Cancer Alliance in Australia, which promotes the involvement of breast care nurses in the care of patients with metastatic disease, and better access to new therapies. Fran is a currently a member of the Board of the Breast Cancer Network of Australia, and in 2008 was awarded Membership of the Order of Australia for her contributions to Breast Cancer research, education, policy and advocacy.
